DAVID FRANCEY HOUSE CONCERT - 2 APRIL 2009
On arriving at Steve's place in Cashmere we were ushered into a fabulous room, set-up with four comfy couches and various other seating options. The performance area was defined by area lighting and a rug. We were firstly treated to a short performance by a local trio, Whiskey Kiss, featuring three acoustic guitars and the lead vocals of Warren Freeman ably backed up by Steve Seaton (our host) and Alan Marsh, who also played lead guitar. Steve then introduced us to our main act for the night, David Francey (Canada) and Craig Worth (USA).
David is a much awarded (Juno award) Canadian singer / songwriter who is such a delight to listen to. His song introductions are as much a part of the entertainment as his songs. David's lyrics and melodies are awe-inspiring; he can use simple English to transform a seemingly simple story to a piece of art.
David was accompanied by the extra-ordinary talents of Craig on Guitar, bouzouki, and the Indian shruti (a squeeze-box styled instrument). Craig has a soft finger-picking style of playing guitar which perfectly complimented David songs.
