Lisa Richards (Singing, songwriting and more)

Lisa Richards - Loose Acoustic Winterbreak 2011

Lisa Richards was born and raised in Australia and began her vocal training in 1983, studying Classical Voice Technique by day and performing in a punk band at night. Her philosophy is 'sing whatever moves you but sing with correct vocal technique so you'll have a voice to enjoy your whole life'. She has been teaching for 16 years.

Trained at the Canberra School of Music and then in Sydney with one of Australia's finest opera singers, Joyce Simmons. Lisa moved from Australia to New York City in 1991 where she began teaching voice and studied the voice, singing and teaching techniques with three excellent teachers, including Patricia Carey (yes, Mariah's mother!) and Melissa Cross (The Zen of Screaming). She has performed at some of the most coveted club gigs in that city.

She has been teaching, performing, writing songs and recording since 1986 in both America and Australia. In addition to performing her own material, she has explored and is familiar with many musical vocal styles including jazz, pop, folk, country, bluegrass, Broadway and rhythm and blues. She has received songwriting awards from many contests including the Billboard Song Contest and Kerrville New Folk Competition.

Now based in Austin Texas, Lisa recorded and released three CDs of original material; the most recent is “Mad Mad Love”. www.lisarichardsmusic.com

Greg Sheehan

Legendary musician Greg Sheehan has long been regarded as one of the finest percussionists in Australia. Yet, precussionist doesn't really do justice to the kind of musician he really is. A pioneer of contemporary rhythm in Australia and with his propensity for experimentation and exploration of all sorts of instruments; tuned and untuned; man made and earth made. Greg is firmly in the realm of Australia's great musical innovators.

As well as unique instruments Greg showcases a battery of unusual instruments such as the Hang, a mesmerising bell like instrument from Switzerland, Jaws Harp from Vietnam crafted from recycled war materials , bike horns, kids toys, kitchen utensils .... this combined with more traditional percussion instrumenbts and Greg's incomparable tambourine creates an unforgettable experience.
