His workshops are based on the idea that learning is an on-going process and should be an enjoyable experience. As a team member of several major instrument and sound manufacturers, Richard adds additional elements to the workshops, including valuable tips about selecting guitars and strings to developing a plan for a good sound system -- all part of helping players raise their skill levels.
Often his workshops are a combination of insights into the world of acoustic guitar and sound reinforcement, plus lively interaction with the audience. I encourage anyone with a basic knowledge of major, minor and 7th chords to come along. We are not looking for advanced. Advanced playing and performance skills. If you can form basic chords, want to expand your knowledge, strum and fingerpick a bit and solidify your technique and have fun this workshop is for you!
I WILL help you open your eyes musically and take your playing to the next level.
I will work with individuals and small groups and help you learn how continue to teach yourself and work with others after the workshop.

- the basics of how to identify the correct chords to be played when given a simple piece of music that does not contain chords.
- how to apply a valuable basic rhythm accompaniment.
- how to apply a single, simple and generic fingerpicking pattern to a tune.
- how to extract the specific melody if you prefer to play or sing only the lead of the tune.
